I could have sworn I've heard that song before...

I switch channels and almost always find Katharine McPhee's "Over It" song playing on MTV. First time I heard it, I was overwhelmed with a sense of I-swear-I-heard-that-song-before. The culprit-tune kept slipping my mind, at first, but just last night, I could have sworn it was sung by a sweet looking girl with curly hair. Something that sounds likely for teens to swoon over and claim as their song of the moment for at least 5-times in their pathetic, angst-ridden, and confused teenage phase.

Alas, presented below are the choruses of the two tracks in point.

Key for the similarity are the song writers behind both, as explained in Greg Fanoe's blog.

I would like to reiterate, though, that although I appreciate this kind of music, my heart still beats to the tune of rock so worry not that I have grown soft only a few months after Rockstar Supernova.

Not too close. Ewan. Similar notes, different execution.

You just had to mention Supernova (the non existent band), eh? hehe

But... but... Supernova is teh entertaining! Well, the search was, but not the un-band.

I don't know how it was that whenever I heard the song, the other one would pop out like they were one chorus and shit. You'll know, benj. Cause you are actually teh singer. Woot!

If my ears are clean enough, I can say that both songs were sang/played using the B-flat Minor root chord. Both choruses start with a B flat-minor, although the chord progression is different all thoroughout. This brings me to the conclusion that Jojo and Katherine McPhee are still on my shaglist.
