Never too old for a kiddie party
An officemate turned forty last week. To show his deep gratitude to those who gave him a surprise kiddie birthday party at the McDonald's in ATC, he sent an invite to everyone present for an intimate birthday treat at his house in Makati.
It turned out his family also had the same idea as them McDo organizers: A pseudo-kiddie party. At the buffet table was a cake topped with the complete Power Rangers team and a banner with the Justice League of America that has Happy Birthday done in JLA-ish fonts. After dinner and before the candle-blowing portion, I overheard one of the guests murmur, "it's just tragic when people give you kiddie parties. It's a sure sign that you are way old." True.
Everyone had a great time, though. The celebrator's family came equiped with games to get the festivity going. The best part of the night was when the guests were all asked to fall in line in front of a basket filled with party favors. Like excited little buggers, everyone shoved their hands in their lootbags to get to the goodies for with it came a momentary glimpse of the 80s:
Fun Stuff
The GoodiesOf the lot, I had the most fun with Orange Sweets.
:
Winner!
I remember the time i beg my mom to buy me one of those orange sweets. And Jackstones!!! Woohoo! Chocnut! Shucks!
Now I know I can afford all of those, thing is, it loses its appeal that way.
I did not even know they still manufactured orange sweets! I alsready had my share of fun in them coz they're the most photogenic among the things in the bag. Pucha, may star pa yung bola! Hahaha!
I remember the time i beg my mom to buy me one of those orange sweets. - "begged", tsk tsk tk
orange sweets? panalo!
Yun lang yun di ba: who did not ever fall in love with orange sweets! (may masyadong emotional na dito, bigyan nyo nga akong isang pakete, hehehe)
Tweaked a bit for added dreamy effect. Hehehe. Hahaha.
wow! cool! i'm gonna throw a party like that for my dad.
While talking about this topic over lunch, my friend and I threw around ideas of what people could toss in their lootbags:
1. cola candy (remember the one with a violet or dark blue colored wrapper?)
2. big boy bubble gum
3. mr. peanut candy
4. pencil/pen eraser (divided in half, one part white, the other grainy grey)
6. red round chewing-gums
7. lollipops dipped in confectionery sugar
8. hard candies shaped as fruits
10. Trump cards (or the cheaper version...tex)
The list could go on...
Tsalap! We never get to find them in our suking tindahan anymore.
pahabol!
remember mr. cinco? its a small packet of round not-so-hard crunchy choco balls (2-3mm). packet size:4cmx5cm.
The weirdest thing about Mr. Cinco is that not many people remember it. Had you not brought it up, I would have shrugged it off as a fragment of my childhood imagination, failing to invoke a recall to most of my peers. Yes, I remember the candy. I remember it fondly. I would guess it has ceased into production due to it not living up to its name in the same manner as inflation got the best from most cheap products back then.
Or is this another Mr. Cinco incident?
i think you mean putoseko..
(palusot)
ainna.. wala ka naman talagang alam eh..
hey Fritz, any idea where they got the orange sweets? :D
I asked. Secret daw. Bwiset. Try mo sa Shopwise. If not sa palengke na.
